Collider sat down with Joe and Dania to talk Premium Rush, Hitrecord and Don Jon’s Addiction among other things.
Some things we’ve heard already, but there are also a few interesting tidbits. Like what motivated Joe to do the movie:
I was in the middle of shooting 50/50, the first time that I read the script for Premium Rush, and it was very different. 50/50 is a movie about a guy fighting cancer, who’s body is giving up on him, and this was a character who was very strong and confident in his body. And riding a bike around New York City, all summer, sounded just like the perfect thing.
Or how directing a movie himself changed his perception of acting:
As an actor, it’s always important to understand what the director is after. That, to me, is my job. When I’m acting, I like to ask a lot of questions and understand exactly why the director is doing what they’re doing, so that I can provide him or her with the ingredients that they need to get the scene that they want. I asked a lot of questions of Dave [Koepp] because I want to understand where the director is coming from. It’s not to challenge them, in any way. It’s just so that I can do my job best. I can’t wait to act again, and not direct. They’re two very, very different creative challenges.
I think it’s interesting, that he can’t wait to act again after directing his first movie. Hopefully we’ll hear something about his follow up to Don Jon’s Addiction soon.
